Free to Be

One of my favorite things is to spend time every day letting Olivia play on her own, without interrupting. I lay her down on the rug and put a few toys out. It’s truly fascinating to watch what she will do, the noises she’ll make as she experiments with her voice, and the little sights and sounds that catch her attention. I don’t always have the time, or take the time, to get out the camera and capture these moments, but this morning as I was watching her play, the morning light came in through the big window in her room and I couldn’t resist!

I was still in my pajamas with unbrushed teeth, Ryan was doing a quick trip to the Farmer’s Market to get food for the week, and I was due to arrive at a meeting a half hour later – but I am so glad I took advantage of those few minutes to shoot some photos of Olivia as she freely played and expressed herself – because now I can share them with those of you who don’t get to see her every day! (Plus, I get to look back on them and remember how little she was).

I love how her eyes look so green in the natural light, and all the unique facial expressions she makes! My hope and prayer is that she will always feel the freedom to be herself and express herself like this. She’s just so beautiful. Here’s a little glimpse into the world of playtime with Olivia…
